Born: March 20, 1953 in Ft. Worth, Texas
Childhood: Oldest of three children (one brother and one sister)
Married: Peggy Jean May Hatley (October 23, 1971)
Family: 2 children and 6 grandchildren.
Conversion: Came to know Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior in the summer of 1971.
Baptism: First Baptist Church in Glen Rose, TX.
Calling: In the summer of 1972 the Lord made it clear to Thomas the call to preach the Gospel. He quickly surrendered and began pulpit supply work whenever possible. By December of 1973, Thomas was in the full-time pastorate.
Ordination: Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Caney, Oklahoma (1974).
Hobbies: Reading, working around the house, grandchildren, occasional sports activities.
Mission Trips: South Asia, China, Vietnam, Middle East, Turkey, Thailand, Bangladesh, Haiti, Israel, and Jordan

- Served on the Nominations Committee for the Southern Baptist Convention and was appointed to the sub-committee that was given charge of the presentation to the Convention.
- Served as President of the Arkansas Baptist Pastors Conference, 1999.
- Eight years of service as a trustee for the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.
- Served for 2 years as Chairman of the International Mission Board.
- Served as Chairman of the Personnel Committee for the International Mission Board.
- Served as Chairman of the South Asia regional committee of the International Mission board.
- Served on the Strategic Directions assessment team.
- Served on Board of Visitors of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
